Jamshoro: Sindh University (SU) employees on Friday continued their strike until fulfillment of their demands on 46th consecutive day.
More than one and galf month ago, Sindh University Employees Workers Association (Sewa) started the protest against the SU registrar for his allegedly anti-workers attitude and demanded his removal.
Police moved into the campus on Tuesday and used force to disperse the participants of a sit-in protest outside the administration block.
The situation escalated when the protesters clashed with police resulting at least six people injured including Superintendent of Police (SP) Headquarter (HQ) Jamshoro, Wasi Hyder.
Police arrested more than 30 protesters after registering two cases under anti-terrorism act against 150 people.
All sindh universities employees’ federation staged protest outside the Hyderabad Press Club and claimed that as many as 64 protesters were picked up by police but only a few of them were booked and produced before a court.
Sewa demanded the provincial government to release their colleagues and withdraw cases against them. They also announced to continue the strike until fulfillment of their demands.
