Johannesburg: Pakistan cricket team made a terrific start in the test match series against South Africa after they sent the entire home team to the pavilion on 253 runs in their first innings of the 1st test match played at the Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Proteas started the match with confidence having the advantage of home ground and home crowd but soon the wickets started falling and the whole team was bowled out at 253 runs.
Jacques Kallis remained the top scorer for the home side with 50 runs followed by Plessis 41, Hashim Amla 37and AB de Villiers 31. The other players failed to cross 30’s. Greame Smith gave a good start but failed to make impression on his birthday and got out at 24.
Pakistani bowlers bowled well to restrict their opponents to a low test score on a reasonable pitch. Mohammad Hafeez remained the leading wicket taker for Pakistan and took four wickets in the innings. The pacers also made a good impression and bowled out four players in total including two wickets from both Umar Gul and Junaid Khan. Younus Khan also took one wicket in the match.
In the second innings of the match, Pakistani batsmen Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshaid scored 6 runs for the loss of no wicket after the first day was called-off by the umpires.
