Washington: Eating deep-fried foods such as French fries, fried chicken and doughnuts could increase risk of prostate cancer, revealed a recent study conducted at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
Co-director of the Hutchinson Center’s Program in Prostate Cancer Research, Janet L Stanford PhD and colleague investigators concluded that men who consume deep-fried foods at least once a week were at an increased risk of the disease than those who ate such foods less than once a month.
The study also said that consumption of these foods was associated with a slightly greater risk of more aggressive type of the disease.
Potentially carcinogenic compounds can form in the fried food when oil is heated to temperatures suitable for deep frying, Stanford said.
