Lahore: Minhajul Quran International chief Tahirul Qadri said on Sunday that the dates of dissolution of assemblies and general election would be announced within a 7-10 days’ period.
Holding a press conference after a meeting with a government delegation, Qadri said that the so-called ‘Islamabad Long March Declaration’ would be given legal form before the dissolution of assemblies.
He said the mechanism to implement the declaration was discussed in the meeting, adding that the caretaker prime minister would be named after the consultation of all the stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira assured the MQI chief that the government has withdrawn cases against participants of the Islamabad sit-in.
The team led by Pakistan Muslim League-Q President Chaudhry Shujjat Hussain were holding talks with Tahirul Qadri on how to move forward on the deal struck between the two parties on the last day of the sit-in.
Members of the ruling coalition including Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, Syed Khurshid Shah, Farooq Sattar and others while as many representatives from the TMQ led by Qadri took part in the meeting.
Federal Law Minister Farooq H Naek, who had been summoned by President Asif Ali Zardari to Islamabad, did not attend the meeting.
