Quetta: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Sunday dismissed the provincial government and announced to impose Governor’s rule in Balochistan, an insurgency hit-province of Pakistan.
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf reached Alamdar Road here after midnight on Sunday to meet with protesters, as thousands of Shias protested for third consecutive day along with coffins of dozens of their dear and near ones.
During his visit to Alamdar Road in Quetta, the Prime Minister announced that the article 234 of the constitution was imposed in the province and would take effect immediately.
Governor Balochistan Zulfiqar Magsi is now the chief executive of the province,” the PM Ashraf said.
The Prime Minister further announced that the Frotier Constubalory along with local security officials will carry out raids to arrest the culprits involved in the brutal murders of the Hazara community.
“Pakistan Army Corps Commander of Balochistan will supervise the FC operations in the province,” he said.
The prime minister also assured the representatives of Quetta Yakjahti Council (QYC) that strict measures would be taken against the culprits and suitable medical treatment would be provided to the blast injured.
Replying a query regarding deployment of army in the province, the prime minister said that army could be called in anytime for civilian administration’s help.
Speaking on the occasion, QYC Leader Changezi told the prime minister that Hazara population in the province was 600,000 but now it has declined to 500,000. He said that dead bodies of 17 of the victims of Thursday’s bombing are still missing.
He lamented that the provincial chief minister did not bother even to offer condolences over killing of such a large number of people.
Handing over a list of the demands of Hazara community, Changezi asked the prime minister for immediately sacking the provincial government and assigning the responsibility of maintaining peace and order in the province and providing security to the Hazara community to the army.
He also demanded jobs for the heirs of the slain people as well as registration of cases of the killings.
