Is Samsung Galaxy S4 coming with flexible display?

London: We have seen flexible and roll-up displays before but they have usually been a product you can see, but not touch. At this year’s CES in Los Vegas Samsung showed flexible OLED screens amid the rumours that Samsung Galaxy S4 — a highly anticipated next-generation flagship handset — will have a flexible display.

Though few key smartphone makers like LG, Philips, Sharp, Sony and Nokia are battling to introduce the flexible display first, but it’s Samsung which is tipped to get there first.

At CES 2013, Samsung showed off two flexible mobile displays in working prototype devices.

As part of Samsung’s CES keynote, Brian Berkeley from the Samsung San Jose Display Lab made an appearance to show off the OLED flexible displays. They are being branded YOUM, and have the potential to make a major impact on smartphone and tablet design going forward.

The company showed off a phonelike device with a screen that wraps around the side edges and could therefore display information like text messages and other alerts without a user needing to view the entire screen.

But the main thing is that it was not the first time that Samsung showed flexible screen at the CES. The company had demoed flexible, transparent displays at the CES in 2011.
