Karachi: The city of Karachi which is known as the hub of economic activities was not spared even on the last day of the year and saw brutal killing of eight people including women.
Local correspondent of website The News Tribe reported on Monday that a car was fired upon near Ayub Goth, New Karachi, resulting in on-the-spot death of a person, namely Maulana Shaukat Ali, and injuries to two women, who later died at the hospital.
In the same area, a 20-year Muhammad Sheeraz s/o Muhammad Riaz was shot and injured. He was shifted to a local hospital.
A little earlier, 40-year-old Jawwad Hasan s/o Zameer Hasan received gunshots on his face and neck by unknown persons in front of Noor Imam Marriage Lawn located near Orangi Town sector 11. Police said that the deceased belonged to the Shitte sect. The body was shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.
A milkman, namely Mushtaq s/o Badlu Khan, aged 41 years died when he was indiscriminately fired upon by unknown men. His associate, 45-year-old Qasim s/o Abdul Rahman got wounded in the incident. “Both these persons lived in Railway Colony and belonged to the Rajput community,” said police.
In another incident, a person was killed near Layari Expressway, Dhobi Ghat. His identity could not be ascertained till filing of this report. Tortured body of a 20-year-old Bilal was recovered from the same area.
Similarly, Nawazish aged 45 years lost his life at the hands of unknown armed men. He was said to be of Punjabi cast.
Meanwhile, police, on a tip-off, raided Baloch Para, Jahangir Road and arrested three people after an encounter, while two of their accomplices managed to escape. The three men, allegedly involved in street-crimes, were namely Muhammad Ahsan, Muhammad Kareem and Ali.
Police claimed to have recovered two TT pistols, other arms, rickshaw and snatched mobile phones from the culprits possession, who have been booked for dacoity.
Police also arrested two suspicious persons from Jamshed Quarter last night and are interrogating them.
