Karachi: “Delimitation in Karachi cannot be held until a fresh population census in the country.”
This was stated by MQM leader Dr. Farooq Sattar, flanked by the party’s lawyer senator Farogh Nasim, after submitting two applications in the Supreme Court of Pakistan against political delimitation in Karachi.
Sattar said that the constitution and law of Pakistan are very clear on the subject, adding that implementation on the proposal would be ‘unjustified and discriminatory’.
He termed the proposal a conspiracy to confront them and their mandate in the city. “According to the census conducted in 1998, the delimitation conducted earlier was a complete process,” he said.
The MQM leader proposed that the Election Commission should seek suggestions from all constituencies in Karachi.
