Islamabad: President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari has signed Criminal Law Amendment Bill and Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan Bill 2012.
Spokesman to president confirmed the signing, adding it was done on the advice of Prime Minister, Raja Pervez Ashraf.
Moreover, the president on the occasion also approved extension of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Act 2012 to the tribal areas under Article 247-3 of the constitution. According to it, local government institutions will now be established under the province.
The PM was advised by Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (Safron) to get the consent of the president on the bill.
The purpose of Criminal Law Amendment Bill is to curb illegal businesses and fake prize bond schemes, while the second bill was tabled to safeguard intellectual property rights in the country. Initiation of IP tribunals and advocacies are part of this process.
Later, the president travelled to South Korean capital Seoul on a three-day official visit along-with top politicians and a delegation of businessmen, where he will hold talks with his counterpart, Lee Myung on mutual trade.
