Lahore: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) have formed an electoral alliance with each other, announcing to contest general elections as allies.
The announcement was made in a meeting of PPP leaders Manzoor Wattoo and Qamar Zaman Kaira with SIC Chairman Sahabzada Fazl Karim in Lahore, a metropolitan of Pakistan. The two parties agreed to launch combine efforts against terrorism and sectarianism.
Talking to media, Kaira said that PPP had formed alliances with all parties across Pakistan to run the state affairs.
“We also made an alliance with PML-N, which was a bitter experience,” he said adding that those differences were now buried.
“We will try to form a grand alliance of like-minded groups in order to curb terrorism, extremism and sectarianism,” he added.
On the occasion, the SIC Chairman said that they had agreed to form a committee formulating the possibilities of seat adjustment in various constituencies adding that the SIC would continue negotiations with other parties for the betterment of the country.
