Washington: A senior U.S. military official on Sunday revealed that State Department’s liaison to the military’s Joint Special Operations Command, Jill Kelley, was the woman who received threatening emails from Paula Broadwell, that triggered an FBI investigation.
Speaking on the conditions of the anonymity, the U.S. military official said that the author who had an affair with Central Investigation Agency (CIA) chief David Petraeus sent harassing emails to37-year-old Jill Kelley in Tampa, Fla.
Another person who knows Kelley and Petraeus confirmed their friendship and said she saw him often.
It is to be mentioned here that the FBI uncovered the affair that led to the resignation of CIA chief David Petraeus while investigating threatening emails sent by his lover to Kelley.
Petraeus, an American hero credited with turning the tide of the Iraq war, resigned on Friday after admitting an extramarital affair, sending shockwaves around Washington just three days after President Barack Obama’s re-election.
