Peshawar: Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, president of Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao) and former federal minister, said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Awami National Party were playing politics in the name of Taliban and, in fact, wanted an operation in Karachi.
Sherpao claimed that there were no Taliban in Karachi.
He said that certain individuals and groups were using the name of the Taliban to take extortion money.
Sherpao moreover demanded the government to carry out a transparent census in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
He said that the government should take steps for the resettlement of the 800,000 people who had been displaced in the wake of military operations in the tribal areas.
