Karachi: The post-Hajj operation of Pakistan International Airlines
(PIA) will commence on Wednesday (Oct 31).
A PIA spokesman, Syed Sultan Hassan informed here on Tuesday that the first post-Hajj flight of PIA from Jeddah (PK-3002) will reach Lahore at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday carrying 500 Hujjaj.
Meanwhile the first post-Hajj flight from Jeddah will also reach Karachi on Wednesday (Oct 31) at 11.30 a.m. with 503 Hujjaj onboard.
Chairman PIA, Lt. Gen. (Retd) Asif Yasin Malik is in Jeddah to oversee the post-Hajj operation of the national carrier. He has directed that elaborate arrangements be made so that the returning Hujjaj did not face any inconvenience.
The spokesman said that PIA ferried over 94,000 intending Hujjaj onboard 196 flights to Saudia Arabia.
The pre-Hajj operation of the PIA had started on September 19 and continued till October 20. PIA had also airlifted some 2,000 intending Hujjaj from Rangoon onboard four chartered flights. Besides, over 9,000 intending Hujjaj had travelled through regular daily flights from Pakistan to Jeddah.
The post-Hajj operation will complete on November 29, the spokesman  added.
He pointed out that the overall punctuality of pre-Hajj flights was over 96 percent while the seat-factor was 99 percent.
Sultan Hassan said that arrival time of post-Hajj flight in Pakistan may vary due to factors such as rush at Jeddah Hajj Terminal, late arrival of passengers and the luggage, besides the security and immigrations procedures at Jeddah Airport that takes some time and that the aircraft cannot leave unless all the passengers and luggage board the aircraft.
