Lahore: Lahore University of Management and Science’s (LUMS) depart Computer Science conducted a lecture of international computing expert Dr David Hawles for the students.
LUMS Computer Science Department invited the Director of the Centre for Medical Image Computing at University College London Dr. David Hawkes on October 24 for the lecture.
The Lecture was conducted for the students of Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE).
Dr. Hawke’s lecture described the work of the Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC) and its role in translating novel computational technology to the clinic.
He discussed methods which analyse and predict tissue motion and deformation, with application to improved detection and diagnosis and in image guided interventions, and added the examples of treatments of cancers of the breast, lung, liver, colon and prostate in his talk.
SBASSE faculty including Dr. Muhammad Sabieh Anwar, Dr. Muhammad Tariq and Dr. Sohaib Khan had a meeting with Dr. Hawkes during which he apprised them of the work being done at UCL.
He also discussed specific on-going projects at LUMS for prospective students who would be interested in the Doctoral Training Programme at UCL according to university sources.
