: Eid Al-Adha is being celebrated in United States, European and Gulf countries today with local Muslims preferring to celebrate Eid with local Masajid (Mosques), communities and Islamic centers.
Nearly 3 million Muslims descend upon Makkah during these blessed days. Following the symbolic stoning of the devil, Muslim pilgrims also perform the ritual of sacrificing sheep and cattle, marking the first day of Eid al-Adha.
ICNA, an North American Muslim association said in its statement “We are reminded of the universal spirit of brotherhood that is embodied by the pilgrimage. We hope that American Muslims will observe this day with full piety and dignity—making dawah to our neighbors, co-workers and friends as we embrace this joyous season.”
According to Islamic faith, 10 days of Dhul Hajj are considered most significant to worship and offer prayers.
Similarly fasting any day during is considered equivalent to fasting one year.
Eid Al-Adha commemorates the tradition of Prophet Abraham and Muslims around the world sacrifice an animal and share it with those in need to mark this day.
