Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the government to imposed ban on Shisha (Hookah) Cafes and smoking in public places.
The LHC bench headed by Chief Justice Umer Ata Bandyal, while hearing a petition for the implementation of anti-smoking law, also directed the authorities to take action against the violators.
During the hearing on Monday, Lahore District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin in his answer to the court said that there was a ban on smoking in public places, adding that all the places except home are the public places. “The cafes are using drugs in the name of Shisha,” the DCO informed the court.
The chief justice directed the government to implement the anti-smoking law and imposed ban on the Shisha cafes and smoking in public places. The court also directed the DCO to take action against the cafes.
