Quetta: The police have withdrawn a case against 26 journalists, who carried out a protest rally in front of CM House against the killing of a newsman in Khuzdar, on the directives of Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Aslam Raisani.
Earlier, CM Raisani ordered the withdrawal of police case registered against journalists.
In a statement issued he said that lodging cases against peaceful protesters was not only undemocratic but apolitical too.
“We will not tolerate such undemocratic acts”, he said.
Earlier police had filed case against the mediamen for violating a ban on entering the Red Zone in Khuzdar. They were protesting the targeted killing of a private news channel’s reporter.
He said gone are the days of dictatorial tyrants who gagged the media using black laws.
“Democracy prevails in the country and we believe in freedom of expression”, said he.
