Islamabad: The popularity of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) has slightly declined while Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) has become the top popular party, according to a recent survey conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI).
Opinions o f as many as six thousand people from different segments of the society were taken about political parties and the public problems during July-August period.
To a question that if elections for the national assembly are held next week, then which party would they would vote for, 28 percent of the people replied that they would vote for PML-N, 24 percent for PTI, 14 percent for PPP and only 3 percent for MQM.
Compared with the IRI February survey, the PML-N’s popularity has increased by 3.7 percent, the PTI’s popularity has sharply dropped down by 22.6 percent and of PPP by 12.5 percent.
PUNJAB
In Punjab, PML-N is enjoying top spot with 43 percent people supporting it. The popularity of other parties are: PTI: 27 percent, PPP: 7 percent and PML-Q: 2 percent
SINDH
In Sindh, the PPP is on top but lost its popularity by 7.1 per cent. PTI took second place with sharp decline of 13.3 percent in popularity. MQM’s popularity has surged 22.5 percent. PML-N and PML-Q’s popularity in the province remains unchanged.
KHYBER-PAKHTUNKHWA
In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), PTI is on top with 30 percent popularity despite losing its vote bank by 38.8 percent.
PML-N’s popularity remained unchanged with nine percent people agreed to vote for it.
BALOCHISTAN
PTI is also n top in Balochistan with 26 percent of the respondents agreed to vote for it. In the previous survey 35 percent people were supporting the party.
Only eight percent of the respondents agreed to vote for PML-N.
