Islamabad: Chief Election Commission Fakhruddin G Ibrahim has said that the Pakistan’s future is linked to free and fair election.
Speaking to media after a meeting on Thursday, he said “conducting transparent election is our responsibility”
Ibrahim said that army would also be called in if needed arose. He said that media and civil society would also play its role in holding free and fair election.
Replying a query secret agencies’ meddling in the election, the CEC said he would also summon the representatives of the secret agencies. “ I will tell them, it is your country as well,” he added.
He called on youth to come forward and bring about a change. The Election Commissioner said that the political parties had given some positive suggestions with some of them asking for increase in Balochistan’s share of National Assembly seats.
He said that he would also talk to Mehmood Khan Achakzai regarding the next general election.
