Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has condemned acts of violence on the day of “Love Prophet Day” and called on people to come forward to make the country liberal secular.
Addressing a ceremony attended by religious scholars, party workers and members of civil society on Wednesday, Husssain said that armed men looted banks , resorted to ransacking of public and private property, besides, setting ablaze cinemas and a Church on the day of love.
He urged the masses to break their silence and came along with him to make Pakistan liberal secular and progressive.
Altaf Hussain said that it was up to people of the country whether they wanted Taliban’s Pakistan or Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan.
He said that the country was occupied by hooligans. The MQM chief also condemned anti-Islam film that mocks Islam and said that nobody could be allowed to do such things in the name of freedom of expression.
“United Nations and Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) should awake,” he added.
He said that he wanted that worship places of other religions should also be respected.
Hussain said that he would leave politics if people didn’t support him against atrocities.
