Karachi: You will never forget the man who scored 194 against the traditional rival India on soil of the neigbouring country, yes I am talking about the great Saeed Anwar who is celebrating his 44th birthday on Wednesday.
Anwar, who born on September 6, 1968 in Karachi, played 44 Test matches and 247 One Day International (ODI) for Pakistan in his 14 years career.
In Test matches he scored 4052 runs with an average of 45.52. In ODIs he scored 8824 runs with an average of 39.21.
His highest individual score of 194 runs against India remained a world record for over 11 year and Charles Coventry of Zimbabwe was the man equaled the feat on 16 August 2009, against Bangladesh. Sachin Tendulkar scored an unbeaten 200 against South Africa on 24 February 2010 and broke his record which later was surpassed by Virender Sehwag’s 219.
He announced his retirement from International cricket on 15 August 2003.
