Damascus: Twenty-five soldiers were killed and wounded four others when a military depot filled with hand grenades exploded in the western province of Afyonkarahisar, the Turkish military said on Thursday.
The cause of the blast, which happened late on Wednesday in the western city of Afyon, was not immediately known, the military said in a statement.
The blast took place in at 9:15 p.m., setting the facility ablaze, reports said, adding that many ambulances and firefighters were sent to the scene.
“Blasts erupted in a grenade depot in the area belonging to the Turkish Air Forces,” Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burhanettin Çoban said.
