Quetta: Pakistan Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Monday directed Inspector General Frontier Corps (FC), Inspector General Police and Secretary Home to submit the report regarding missing persons of Balochistan on Tuesday.
A three-judge bench of the apex court, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja resumed the hearing of a petition on the law and order situation and human rights violations in Balochistan.
During today hearing, the bench said that the secretary defence and secretary law would be summoned if the report was not satisfying.
The chief justice inquired over the delegation of policing powers to the Frontier Corps (FC). The chief justice said that police officials were violating court’s orders and the situation had deteriorated to the extent that a district judge was assassinated along with his security guard.
The CJ remarked that what the police had been doing and why had the FC been delegated policing powers when there were already allegations against it.
The bench said that the smuggled cars were being used in province and that people were openly carrying arms. “Many Shiite and Sunni Muslims had been killed in province.”
He further said that nine districts in Balochistan were sensitive and directed the IG police to submit a list of victims of targeted killings in the province in the past six months.
The CJ also inquired about the attorney general’s absence and expressed displeasure over his absence. The chief justice issued directives to ask the AG to attend the hearing on Tuesday.
Later, the court adjourned the hearing till Tuesday (Tomorrow).
