Islamabad: Pakistan State Minister for Inter-faith harmony, Akram Gill, had demanded the government to increase the minority seats in the National and provincial assemblies.
Gill said he would move a bill in the National Assembly on Monday for the increase in the seats for minorities.
The National Assembly has 342 seats out of which 10 are minority seats. In the Punjab Assembly there are 8 seats allotted for minorities, 9 in the Sindh Assembly, while there are 3 each in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies.
“The Federal Cabinet has already given approval for an increase in the number of minority seats,” the minister told Geo News, a private Pakistani news television.
