Bajaur: At least 18 militants including two key Taliban commanders have been killed in an ongoing operation of Pakistani security forces in Bajaur Agency of the country’s northwestern tribal region, official sources said on Thursday.
The sources said that two key Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the banned outfit, commanders named Khatir and Turabi were also among the 18 militants killed in operation.
The security forces have been battling against the TTP-led non-state actors in the mountainous region of northwest Pakistan since 2008.
On Wednesday, the militants also attacked the check-post of the forces in Farhang Babazayarat area of South Waziristan Agency, killed 9 security personnel. 10 militants were also killed in retaliatory fire.
Bajaur is the smallest of the agencies of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) bordering Afghanistan.
