Islamabad: Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Monday took notice of press conference held by PPP lawmaker Faisal Raza Abidi in which hurled serious allegations against him and malign the apex court.
The CJ had sought footage of the press briefing to see whether it came under contempt of court or not. Abidi Sunday held a press conference at the National Press Club in Islamabad and accused the CJ of acquitting a terrorist who allegedly killed 100 people.
He had also said that he would soon table a bill against the judges who had taken oath on the PCO.
Moreover, Advocate Tariq Assad filed plea in the court, seeking action under contempt of court against Faisal Raza Abidi and PEMRA for the press conference
Meanwhile, the Pakistan People’s Party issued a show-cause notice to Abidi for his press conference. The notice was issued by party’s secretary general Jehangor Badar.
