Khairpur: Police are conducting raid to arrest their six coworkers, accused of parading a couple naked in public, after registering case against them.
Witnesses say police in Gambat area of Sindh’s Khairpur city forced the man and woman to walk to the police station naked as punishment for trying to have sex outside marriage.
Authorities came into action after the release of mobile phone footage, showing a naked man being beaten by police and a woman begging them to let her cover herself, and suspended six police officers including SHO Khair Mohammad Sumijo, ASI Rahim Bakhsh Jambro, Ghulam Akbar Khaskheli, Amir Ali Shar and two constables Ghulam Raza and Abdul latif for parading the couple naked in public.
The couple was reportedly arrested on charges of “intent to commit adultery” on July 27.
The man involved, Mumtaz Mirbahar, has since been released on bail, while the woman remains in detention.
