Peshawar: The family members of Dr Shakil Afridi, jailed for assisting CIA in locating al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, have been allowed to visit him in Jail.
His first visitors in Peshawar jail, where he is serving his term, were his lawyer Sami Afridi and brother Jamil Afridi.
Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government announced it had lifted the ban barring Dr Shakeel Afridi from meeting his family.
Talking to media, the Deputy Superintendent Peshawar Jail, Maqsud ur Rehman said that the provincial government has allowed Dr Shakeel to meet his family once a month.
Afridi is incarcerated for running a pretentious vaccination campaign in Abbotabad allegedly for the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in a bid to trace Osama bin Laden.
