Lahore: Twelve personnel of NADRA including the General Manager Lahore have been suspended following a report in the British newspaper ‘The Sun’ which claimed to have revealed a fake Pakistani passport and visa ring.
The Sun claimed on Monday to have smashed a VISA scam giving potential terrorists the chance to sneak into Britain with Pakistan’s Olympic team.
Senior advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik on Monday took serious notice of the issue and said that the names of all suspended officials had been placed on the ECL.
All the suspended individuals are from NADRA’s Lahore office.
The investigator for the newspaper had met with a fixer (Bobby) in Lahore who claimed that he could get fake travel documents made for approximately 600 pounds.
The investigator was taken to NADRA where his photograph and fingerprints were taken and his new identity was made.
According to the SUN, their investigator was taken to two separate passport and ID offices and up to 12 people were involved in the scam.
