Karachi: A UN official was injured when armed men opened fire on a vehicle of a UN team visiting Sohrab Goath area of Karachi.
According to reports, Dr Fosten received bullet injury and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Two armed men riding a bike intercepted the UN vehicle in Afghan Basti area and opened fire. Reports said the team has been visiting the area for the last couple of days.
The injured doctor was shifted to a private medical facility Patel Hospital located in adjacent Gulashan-e-Iqbal Town.
Police said the UN team visited the area without informing them. The team’s visit was part of anti-polio campaign in the city.
Hundreds of people have been killed in Karachi during the last few years in sectarian and ethnic violence.
