Islamabad: A four-member of the Supreme Court of Pakistan headed by Justice Tassaduq Jillani on Wednesday heard the case of delayed payments to Independent Power Producer’s (IPP) filed by the eight companies.
During today’s hearing, Muneer A Malik and Hamid Khan, the counsels of eight IPP’s, said that government had not followed the deal of year 2011. They added that they knew that the government was in trouble but the IPP’s were also in pressure.
They told the court that the government had to pay Rs62 billion dues to the IPP’s.
Irfan Qadir, the attorney general of Pakistan, said that the government had only Rs28 billion dues to pay.
The court directed the AG to ask the government to clarify its position that how much money they could pay to the IPP’s.
Later, the bench adjourned the hearing of the case till July 13.
