Mexico City: At least 26 people were killed and 23 others injured when a bus plunged into a 300 meter (900 foot) ravine in Southern Mexican state of Guerrero Sunday, authorities said.
The victims were on their way to a rally for a Workers Party candidate running for municipal office when the accident occurred on a road between the towns of Tlamacazapa and Buenavista de Cuellar, the AFP quoted interior ministry’s statement.
“According to information provided by the Guerrero state government, of the 26 people who died, 12 were adults, eight were youths and six were children, in addition to the 23 injured,” it said.
