Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday took suo motu notice of alleged killing of four women as a punishment for dancing at a wedding party in Kohistan district of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (KPK).
Chief Justice Ifitkhar Mohammad Chaudhry has also directed attorney general of Pakistan to take details of the incident from chief secretary KPK. He also directed him produce all the four girls and two boys in the court if they are alive.
The apex court also issued notices to Commissioner Hazara division, DPO Kishitan and DIG Hazara to appear before the court on June 6.
A local Jirga in Kohistan earlier ordered to kill four women and two men alleged of dancing together in a wedding ceremony.
The Interior Minister said that a judicial commission would conduct investigation into the incident.
However, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Social Welfare Sattar Ayaz talking to media denied the report, saying the women who danced at the wedding ceremony were not killed.
