Simi Valley, California: Janice Somple, a 65-year-old retired English teacher who was found dead inside her Simi Valley home last Thursday, had been stabbed to death, an autopsy revealed Saturday.
Autopsy results released Saturday evening revealed Somple died of multiple traumatic injuries, including beating and stabbing and the murder was not random
One resident said people living across the street from Somple heard her screaming for help yesterday afternoon, but never called 911, KTLA reported.
“There’s a concern in the community, and we want to settle that down. The leads we have indicate it was not a random act, and they are taking us beyond the limits of Simi Valley,” Lt. Joseph May told Los Angeles Times.
Somple was reportedly having some construction work done at her home in anticipation of hosting her daughter’s wedding reception next month.
She had been living there for 35-years and was a retired English teacher after 28 years in the Conejo Valley Unified School District, including Westlake High School in Thousand Oaks.
