Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti has issued instructions to law enforcement agencies to provide Dr Shakil Afridi with high profile security after receiving a report from secret agencies that the doctor’s life is in danger.
The agencies had informed the chief minister that there were 3,000 prisoners, including 250 dangerous   outlaws in Peshawar jail, where Mr Afridi has been detained. The chief minister had been informed that anti-Afridi sentiments amongst the prisoners pose serious threat to his life.
Keeping in view the reports, Hoti has directed Secretary Interior Azam Khan to provide high profile security to Mr Afridi to avoid any untoward incident.
Dr Shakil Afrid has been punished with 33-year in jail for helping US trace al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad.
