Washington: Secret Service members were again found guilty on Thursday of an alleged misconduct in El Salvador.
This happened a day after US lawmakers were briefed on an alleged prostitution scandal in Colombia, CNN reported.
The investigation will look into a Thursday report by Seattleās KIRO TV station, a CNN affiliate, that said roughly a dozen Secret Service agents and a few military specialists regularly went to a strip club in San Salvador ahead of Obamaās trip there in March 2011.
The report cited an anonymous US government contractor who worked with the Secret Service advance team. Obamaās trip was part of a Latin American tour that also included Brazil and Chile.
The Secret Service official, who declined to be named, said the agency was checking the authenticity of the report.
The contractor told KIRO that the drunkards proudly showed their association in the club and most of them paid for sexual favours in a VIP section, the contractor told KIRO.
āThe recent investigation in Cartagena has generated several news stories that contain allegations by mostly undisclosed sources. Any information that is brought to our attention that can be assessed as credible will be followed up on in an appropriate manner,ā Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary wrote in an email.
CNN said it cannot independently confirm the allegations.
