Karachi: A seminar titled ‘Impact of Advertising on Society’ was held on Thursday in the University of Karachi, focusing on the pros and cons of the tactics used by the present-day advertisers.
Speaking to the seminar, organized by the Department of Mass Communication, Chairperson Prof. Dr. Rafia Taj observed that advertising had both bad and good impacts on society. If well-presented, an advertisement can market a bad product well, while on the other hand, a poorly designed advert can be a hindrance in the marketing of a good product, she noted.
Dr. Tahir Masood, while describing the code of conduct in advertising market, was of the view that unfortunately Pakistan did not follow a fixed code of conduct. Advertisements should never a contain a deceptive and unauthentic message, he added.
Mr. Masood also presented shields to the guests.
