Lahore: United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has stopped funds for the Punjab education schemes on not achieving set targets by the provincial educational department of Punjab.
UNICEF and other donor countries including United States, France, German and others indicated to stop next installment of funds for the educational reforms in the province.
To look into the matter, Punjab government has given task to Secretary of Schools to discuss with these donor agencies.
According to a research report by The News Tribe, the provincial secretary of schools is on foreign tours these days.
“He has been instructed to take immediate steps to get the donor agencies agreed to release funds,” officials in the education department informed.
Taking about it Punjab’s education minister Mian Shuja Mujtaba viewed that the World Bank was the largest donor for the educational reforms.
“WB is satisfied with our work and it is expected that it would increase the funds for next season.”
