Karachi: At least four people, including two policemen were killed and 14 others injured as a suicide bomber crashed his motorcycle into a police vehicle in Malir Halt area of Karachi on Thursday.
According to reports, the bomber apparently targeted SSP Malir Rao Anwar. However, he remained safe as he was travelling in a armoured personnel carrier (APC).
The blast took place near a bus stop.
Police and Rangers rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. The dead and injured were shifted to a nearby hospital through ambulances.
Police said that am injured were arrested from a hospital located near the blast site.
Karachi Police Chief Akhtar Gorchani confirmed that SSP Malir was targeted in a suicide blast in Malir.
The proscribed outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has accepted responsibility for the blast.
