Chennai: Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings, the defending champion of Indian Premier League, by eight wickets in the opener of the fifth edition of the tournament at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, a city of India.
Mumbai Indians easily chased a low total of 113 runs with almost three overs left in their innings. Richard Levi who scored 50 runs remained the top scorer from the Mumbai side accompanied by James Franklin 25 and Ambati Rayudu 18.
The Chennai Super Kings’ bowlers failed to show any impression on the field and took only two wickets. Doug Bollinger and Dwayne Bravo were the bowlers of Chennai who shared one wicket each.
Earlier due to outstanding bowling of M Indian bowlers the Chennai was restricted to 112 runs in their innings.
