Karachi: Djuice Pakistan has launched its mobile applications development competition– Apportunity 2012: App Mein Kitna Ha Dum”– for students and software developers aimed at promoting youngsters’ talent and local content at global and national level on renowned platform of Apple iOS, Google Android and Nokia Symbian.
This was announced in a bloggers’ meet-up held here at local hotel.
Students and software developers will be given training at their universities in collaboration with Nokia, Google and Qualcom in 60 different universities in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
We will encourage our local talent to unleash their potential and showcase their creativity, Usman Sheikh, Apportunity project head said.
Djuice will provide you training, consultation and funding for execution of your projects and help you to promote your apps worldwide, he said.
He recalled that Djuice received overwhelmed response last year and 460 apps were designed by developers from 63 cities. “Now, we will be expecting more people to be involved in this competition for promoting their apps.”
The meet-up was attended by Badar Kushnood of Google, Jehan Ara of P@SHA, Rabia Nizami of Nokia, different bloggers, apps developers and others.
Ahmed Nadeem Pasha Telenor’s Regional Director, said that Djuice is committed to promote local talent through capacity building of their skills and knowledge.
Djuice Apportunity is fast becoming platform of chose for amateur Pakistani app developers to exhibit their talent. “Telenor will continue to provide opportunities to the talented youth of Pakistan to enable them to excel in their fields.”
Competition Dates.
The interested participants will get registered them from now till June 2012 and upload their applications on djuice portal/ mobile apps till July 2012.
Of the overall apps submission, 50 apps will be published by August 2012 on websites of Apple’s App store, Google Play and Nokia Ovi Store. The winners of the competition will be announced in October 2012.
The winners of the contest will be given laptops, smart phone, gold medals, free airtime, internship and certificates.
