Karachi: Police in Karachi on Wednesday baton-charged and used water cannons to disperse a protest rally of Nurses and paramedical staff that intended to march towards Governor House to press the government to increase their salaries.
Protesting nurses and students from the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, National Institute of Child Health, Civil Hospital Karachi, Lyari General Hospital, Korangi Government Hospital and the Sindh Services Hospital, backed by some medical association leaders, gathered outside the Karachi Press Club and held march towards Governor House.
Police used baton-charged and water cannon against the protestors at Fohara Chowk near the press club and also arrested many demonstrators.
