Rawalpindi: General Khalid Shameem Wynne Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, who is on an official visit to Sri Lanka called onĀ Lieutenant General Jagth Jaysuriya, the Commander of Sri Lanka Army in Colombo.
In a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations, the spokesman stated that the Chairman discussed matters related to mutual interest and measures to further the existing close military ties.
The statement stated that Khalid Shameem visited Kilnochchi in Northern Sri Lanka where he was briefed by Security Force Commander on the ongoing Humanitarian Operations. He witnessed the conduct of the demining operations in the field area. Chairman appreciated the efforts of Sri Lankan Armed Forces in establishing safe and secure environment for the Sri Lankan people which served as an example for others to emulate.
The Chairman also visited the natural harbor at Trincomalee and was briefed about the significance of this port by Commander Eastern Naval Command.
