Karachi: Utility Stores, Pakistan Government subsidy eatables provision arm, has raised sugar prices Rs. 6 per kilogram.
After the raise, per kg sugar price has hiked to Rs. 48.
Official sources in Utility Stores Corporation disclosed that price hike was made to balance rates with local market which has already raised prices of sugar.
Local sugar prices across the country is around Rs. 55 to 56.
According to officials, its is expected that this season would be a bumper seasons in terms of sugar production.
“An estimation of 4.8 million ton sugar production has been made, over 0.6 million than the previous estimation.”
