Brussels: At least seven policemen were injured when a suicide bomber struck his car with convoy of Qatar’s ambassador to Belgium in Brussels.
According to Belgian media, a car has crashed into the police escort waiting for the new ambassador of Qatar outside the royal palace of Laken.
The police motorbike escort was waiting for the ambassador at the gate outside the royal palace when the incident occurred.
The mayor of Brussels has denied that the Qatari ambassador was the target.
Christian De Coninck of the Brussels police was quoted saying that “this was a suicide attack.”
He said that motorist had been detained who told the police that he wanted to kill himself.
The ambassador of Qatar was inside the castle and remained safe.
