Dhaka: At least 12 people dead and more than 200 were missing when a passenger ship capsized in the river Meghna of Bangladesh after collision with oil tanker on Tuesday.
According to local media, BIWTA chairman Khandker Shamsuzzaman told reporters rescuers recovered 12 bodies so far, including one child and a woman while the launch, MV Shariatpur-1, was traced under 70 feet water in the river Meghna.
More casualties are feared as many survivors said many of their friends and family members remained unaccounted for.
The survivors said about 35 passengers were rescued after the accident took place around 2:30am on Tuesday.
