Sanaa: At least eight militants were killed and 12 others injured in an attack launched by Yemini Army in Yemen’s southern province of Abyan, media reported on Thursday.
According to media reports Yemen’s military hit al-Qaida positions with artillery and bombs in the town of Jaar in the southern province of Abyan.
The military offense comes just days after al-Qaida carried out a daring weekend attack on an army base, killing nearly 200 soldiers.
It is to be mentioned here that Al-Qaida militants seized the town several months ago, taking advantage of Yemen’s internal political turmoil.
