Karachi: The CPI inflation has settled at 10.81 percent in the eight months of the current fiscal year compared with corresponding period of previous financial year, reflecting surging cost of living and industrial production on fuelling energy prices, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data showed.
In Februarys 2012, the headline inflation has shot to 11.05 percent on a year-on- year, with a month-month increase of 0.3 percent from January.
The surging prices of petroleum products, natural gas and electricity have pushed up rates of essential commodities, which have been causing adverse impact on the purchasing power of common man and businesses.
Experts said the uncontrolled price-hike may retain the constant increase of CPI that seems to cross the projected level of the yearly target of 12 percent.
