Dubai: England have completed 4-0 historic whitewash against Pakistan in one-day international series with the help of great innings of Kevin Pietersen who made 130 runs in Dubai on Tuesday.
Pietersen helped England recover from 68-4 with a 109-run stand for the fifth wicket with Craig Kieswetter (43) to maintain his team’s domination in the series in which they won the first match by 130 runs, second by 20 and the third by nine wickets.
It was England’s first whitewash of Pakistan in a limited-over series in 25 years. The result was unexpected given Pakistan beat England 3-0 in the test series and India beat England 5-0 in a recent ODI series.
England skipper Alastair Cook were looking satisfied with the team effort.
“We really had a very good one-day series,” said Cook. “It was a great challenge and we stood up and won.”
While Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq said Pakistan did show some fight but England were too good.
“We showed improvement from the last game but England and Pietersen were too good for us,” said Misbah. “Credit to England for playing well in this series and we were below par.”
