Melbourne: Australia have defeated India by 65 runs on the basis of Duckworth Lewis method in the first One day International at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
According to the media reports Australian team scored 216 runs for the loss of five wickets in their innings and in reply Indians were failed to chase the target and bowled out at 151 runs.
Earlier due to consistent rain the match was reduced to 32 overs on the basis of Duckworth Lewis method.
Indian batsmen failed to chase the target as Virat Kohli 31, Dhoni 29 and Rohit Sharma 21 were the only three batsmen to cross 20’s.
Clint McKay was the pick of the bowlers taking 4-20 with Ryan Harris 2-33, Xavier Doherty 2-36 and Daniel Christian 1-21 were the other wicket taking bowlers.
Earlier in the Australian innings Mathew Wade remained the top scorer by scoring 67 runs while David Hussey 61 and Michael Hussey 45 were the other leading batsmen. The Indian captain used eight bowlers but except vinay Kumar 3-21, Rohit Sharma 1-17 and Rahul Sharma 1-44 others were failed to pick wickets.
